What is the Canadian citizenship test?
After IRCC accepts your citizenship application, applicants aged 18โ54 are invited to a 30-minute test โ today usually written online โ of 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions. Every question comes from the official study guide, Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship, which is free from IRCC.

Is the real test in English or French?
Your choice โ either official language. The test doubles as part of your language assessment, alongside your documents.
How long after applying is the test?
It varies with IRCC's workload โ typically several months after your acknowledgement of receipt. You'll get an invitation with a date and a window to complete it.
What if I fail twice?
You're not refused automatically โ IRCC schedules a hearing with a citizenship official who assesses your knowledge orally.
